The first official language of Afghanistan is the Pashto. It was introduced into Afghanistan during the reign of Zahir Shah. This was accepted to be the country’s official language, and almost there were four different dialects of Pashto been spoken in the north, east, west and south. Later, the Dari language came into existence and a majority of the population started pursuing this language for their business and communication. This language came from the Persians who were the major invaders of Afghanistan. It is been estimated that half of the population speaks Dari and around 35 percent speaks Pashto. In addition, several Turkic lyrics such as Turkmen and Uzbek are also spoken along with over thirty other languages. Much of the population is bilingual. Other languages were also spoken based on the territory and the invaders who invaded the territory.
Pashto Language
Though the majority of the population for business and other trades spoke Dari, Pashto became the language for literature lovers. Lot of literates and poets used this language and this language faced a wide fame in the history of Afghanistan. Many poets were responsible for such a huge frog leap of this language Pashto. One of the well-renowned writers who have developed unique poems in Pashto called as the Khushal Khan Khattak. His literature work is so excellent that people started loving Pashto in the way of nature rather than seeing it to be an official language. They started sensing that Pashto had some magnetism to attract people with its natural poetic sense. Lot of literature works apart from poets like songs, novels developed the language.
Dari Language
The Dari language too has an extensive collection of literature. Dari had its own unique sense of loving poems, which were world-renowned. Poets like Jalaluddin Rumi and other famous poets have written several dare poems, which is now translated into many world languages for their beautiful usage of the language and the way they loved the language. Both the languages showed equal competence in the just lifting the hearts of people. It is not about which is the best, but it is all about communication and the spirit of nationalism in the language we speak.
Propagate Your Language
Whatever might be the language been followed, we have to make sure that we are strong enough in the language and we have contributed enough for our nation and the language we speak. The only way we could developed a language is to progress them through our children. Children leaving the country should not leave their language behind. The parents should take the responsibility that the child learns the language and keeps in touch with it. Any language would come to an end if there were no one to propagate it. Each language speakers must have the spirit in their language and love them.
Some of the ways that we could use to propagate the language spirit worldwide is to insist to have a subject of either Pashto or Dari in the education syllabus of primary and middle school. It is no harm in introducing a subject of your language in colleges and in other higher studies, you pursue. One has to renovate the literature books. Print them into fresh new copies and then give them free of cost to all the citizens. Parents should take oath that they would teach their children Pashto and Dari. It is important that names to infants should be in Pashto or Dari. Only through such simple methods, one could develop some of the world’s precious languages like Pashto and Dari.
