History of Afghanistan
Afghanistan was a land of migrating people who passed through often. Many people who passed through, left each of theirs culture in this land. Although a lot of such left over cultures vanished, a few sustained, especially the one left by the Aryan people. It was from these Aryans they got their language and culture of Pashto and Persian. Other cultures like Buddhism, Greek, Asian, and Hindu all perished eventually. They sustained many people, many wars and they developed themselves entirely as a nation in the 19th century. They were known by many other names right from 330 BC. It stood strongly between the Britain and the great Russia. This was considered the pride of Afghanistan, standing between powers of the world.
Islamic groups
It was Islam, which played the dominant role in developing the country into what we know today as Afghanistan. The culture, ethnic groups, religion, and the people were developed by Islam. People civilized in Islam and they started to live their culture. This is how the culture and literature changed over times. It has today become one of the prime learning centers and has become one of the major medieval powers.
Invasions and Developments
There were many invasions from time to time. Here we will discuss some of the major invasions that lead to the Afghanistan that we see today. Especially the invasion of the northern region should be considered the most drastic invasion of Afghanistan. The Tocharian tribes captured the northern Afghanistan in 140s BCE. The Indo-Scythians initially conquered the land but later they fled to India when they were defeated by the Indo-Parthian and this was in the 1st century AD.
Kushan, Buddhism, Hinduism were all meager conquerors of Afghanistan at one point of time. The white Huns, Sassanid Persians were also among these. Especially the Kabul valley, which is considered the most famous valley, was ruled by Shahi.
Islam conquered Afghanistan in the period of 642 to 1200 AD. The Islam was introduced by the Arabs who intruded Afghanistan from Persia. This is considered the major conquer in Afghanistan and they slowly established their territory and started extending them. At this point of time, they introduced Islam and the language along with the culture. Though they tried their best to conquer the entire Afghanistan, they failed in the Southern and eastern part of Afghanistan.
This was later conquered by Ghazi and then it fell onto the hands of the Mongols. After all these they changed many hands and they were divided into north, east, south and west of which each were ruled by various dynasties. Later, the European culture started influencing Afghanistan. During the First World War Afghanistan remained neutral in its policies. However, there were many powers from Germany influencing Afghanistan to be against the British they stayed neutral as per the king’s orders. At this time, slowly the European culture started inducing into Afghanistan.
Democratic Republic Afghanistan
The Saur revolution led to democracy in Afghanistan. Taraki became the president and prime minister of the PDPA. He also took the post of the general secretary of the PDPA. He then announced Afghanistan as the democratic republic of Afghanistan. Slowly many developments in women rights and in the education of women have raised Afghanistan to the level of pride that we see in them.
